Founded
in 1909 and located in the capital city of Gansu Province,
Lanzhou University is one of the key university directly
under the control of the State Education Commission
of China. Currently, it has four schools: the school
of Adult Education, the Professional Technology School,
the Resources and Environment School and the Social
Development School. The University houses 22 departments
offering advanced degrees in 45 major fields of study,
among which the five majors of Physics, Chemistry,
Biology, Geography and History are approved as bases
for training future researchers and teachers of basic
theory by the State Education Commission of China.
The University operates an additional 35 institutes
along with 2 national key laboratories and 1 open
