Fang Litian is a professor and supervisor at Peking
University, a well-known expert in Buddhology and
Philosophical History. Professor Fang was born in
1933 in Yongkang City of Zhejiang Province, graduated
from Philosophy Dept. of Peking University in 1960.
He was promoted as professor by the State's Council
in 1984.
Currently he serves as the director of Institute
of Center for Buddhist & Religionary Research
of RUC. His concurrent positions include: vice Chairman
of China Religious Academy, permanent deputy chairman
of China Philosophy History Academy, chief editor
of the magzine China Philosophy History and member
of Humanities & Social Science Research Consulting
Experts Committee of China Ministry of Education.
As a serious scholor, Professor Fang issued over
250 articles and published many academic monographs
in his educational and researching career. His works
Buddhist Philosophy was awarded the first prize of
1st China Outstanding Achievement in Humanities and
Social Science by the State Education Committee.
